Just curious what the plan was for the swim teams.

The plan is that they train in the outdoor pool this year and likely next.
Swim meets in area pools.
Hopefully an announcement about a new pool will take place this summer.

I am sure we will be fine until the new Natatorium is constructed. I agree it will be nice to hear the news about when/where and stuff like that.

Go Mustangs!

Certainly the out door facility is suitable for long course training through the end of November, but it is not a winter use facility. Biggest problem in the past has been when it gets too cold the men's team had to finally move indoors thereby creating scheduling problems with the women's team. Eddie prefers his initial training to be in the out door pool and long course while Steve always preferred to keep the gals indoors and train in the short pool. I will be interested to find out whether or not they ultimately keep the out door pool, which occupies valuable space in the heart of the campus, or whether this space will be part of the new center. In the long run, it does not make much sense to have two different swimming facilities located in different locations. Hopefully, any new facility will have 12 to 14 lanes and will have at least one 50 meter indoor pool with bulk heads and a diving tank.

Does Allen ISD have a pool (that doesn't leak)?

When Rick Hart and Tom Buning (assistant AD in charge of swimming and facilities) were at the "last day at the Nat" on a Saturday in April I talked to them about that (as did others).
It was clear that they were going to try and do what the coaches wanted - build a new indoor 50 meter pool with a new outdoor pool next to it. Both would be east of Central.
This winter (and next) the teams will have bulkhead in the middle and hopefully some tip of tent covering the outdoor pool.
So they will actually have 16 25 yard training lanes - much more than they have had before.
Where the outdoor and indoor pool are now, I would expect an alumni center to be.

Thanks for the info. Also, I believe you mean 16 25 meter lanes.

Actually, when you take the 50 meter pool and put the bulkhead in the middle, it creates "two" 25 yard pools. The width of the bulkhead changes one long course (meter) pool to two short course (yard) pools. If it was two 25 meter pools in a 50 meter pool, the bulkhead couldn't have any width.
