Guerra Earns Conference Rookie Of The Week Honors
Freshman's Two Goals Led SMU Past Gonzaga On Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/AMERICAN) – SMU women's soccer player Lauren Guerra was named the American Athletic Conference’s Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
Guerra, a freshman, scored both goals in the Mustangs’ 2-1 overtime victory over Gonzaga on Sunday afternoon. The Yorba Linda, California, native recorded a goal in the 72nd minute to tie the game at 1-1, before tallying the game-winner in the first overtime period. Seven minutes into overtime, Guerra capitalized on a through ball from senior Rikki Clarke to give SMU the overtime win and its fourth win this season.
Guerra leads the Mustangs in scoring this season with three goals and also scored the game-winner against Colorado State on Sept. 12.
The Mustangs kick off conference play this week with a midweek match at Houston on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT.
