M-Soccer: SMU at UConn

Postby DanFreibergerForHeisman » Fri Oct 24, 2014 7:39 pm

The No. 24 Mustangs (8-4-2, 3-1-2) have a huge road game Saturday night at UConn (6-6-2, 4-1-1).

After Wednesday's American matches, UConn is now in first place. The Mustangs are in fourth place but only two points behind the Huskies.

1. UConn (13, 4-1-1)
1. USF (13, 4-1-1)
3. Tulsa (12, 4-2-0)
4. SMU (11, 3-1-2)
5. Cincinnati (7, 2-3-1)
6. Temple (4, 1-4-1)
6. Memphis (4, 1-4-1)
8. UCF (3, 0-3-3)

Conference season is winding down, so every point is crucial as teams fight for their conference tournament seeding. The top four teams host first round matches and the semifinals and final are at UConn.

It looks like the weather should be decent. Game time temperature of 53, light winds, and no precipitation.

After a more than slight delay for UConn's Senior Day festivities, action is underway in Storrs.

SMU makes it 1-0!

Benjamin Joseph with a nice shot to the top corner off a cross from Damian Rosales.

Nice first half from SMU.

The Mustangs absorbed some early pressure from Connecticut. SMU scored on our first really good chance, and the rest of the half was pretty even if not a bit in favor of SMU.

Is it just me or do we give up a goal in every game just as the 2nd half begins?

A quick look shows Temple, UCF, and the first Tulsa game did all have early second half goals from the opponents - so yeah.
