Men's Swimming falls to TCU

Despite several first place finishes in individual events, Mustangs fall to TCU. :( Lack of depth and in relays.

Senior Sam Straughan, a transfer from the United Kingdom’s Loughborough University, captured the 100-yard backstroke (49.73). The first-place finish was the first of two for the Maidenhead, United Kingdom, native, as he also won the 100-yard butterfly (49.54). He looks good in first SMU swim.

Darnit!

Has anybody heard what they are doing now for practice now that it is so freaking cold in Dallas?

Good question. Sucks to not have a facility. What happened to the temporary dome structure idea?

1) Until this post, I didn't realize that TCU had a swim team (do they have a pool?).

2) Is the outdoor pool closed? They practiced there back in the 80's even in very cold weather.

They've been practicing in the outdoor pool

Sad- The one sport we could always count on has dropped to the bottom. Never remember losing to TCU in swimming.

The women's team is like #16 and they barely even have a pool.
Talk about recruiting disadvantages...

The Men's team actually will be pretty good this year. Their best swimmer won't be eligible till second semester.
Losing to TCU is not a good thing, but a lot of that has to do with TCU being more rested for that meet. SMU has different goals that focus on next spring.

Coach Mac would have jumped off the high dive with an anchor around his neck if we lost to TCU. He used to divide the team by three and send them to TCU, A&M and Rice and sweep all three meets and get all his swimmers SWC qualifying times.

Not sure but I think the first time to ever lose to TCU in swimming occurred last year. Very unfortunate.
