Volleyball: SMU vs. Tulsa/at ECU

SMU closes out the regular season this week with matches at home against Tulsa Wednesday afternoon and at East Carolina Friday afternoon.
The Mustangs (24-6, 13-5) are currently tied for second place in The American. Tulsa (21-8, 13-5) is also tied for second, while ECU (15-14, 6-12) is in ninth place.
UCF has already clinched the regular season conference title. SMU can put itself in good position for a potential bid to the NCAA Tournament with two more wins this week.

Yeah, it's an unfortunate week to have the Wednesday conference match with basketball and Thanksgiving.

I just looked at the conference schedule - everybody is playing Wednesday/Friday this week and the extra game is Saturday.
Originally, our match was the only one scheduled in the afternoon, but Houston at UConn was moved up because of weather.

SMU with a big 25-15 win in the first set against Tulsa today.
Janelle Giordano leads SMU with 5 kills. Avery Acker with 14 assists.

SMU up 18-12 in the second set.
Solid across-the-board attacking from the Mustangs so far.

SMU goes up 2-0 on Tulsa after winning the second set 25-21.
Janelle Giordano with 7 kills. Kristen Stehling with 6. Cailin Bula and Abbey Bybel each with 5. Caroline Young with 4.

Janelle Giordano led SMU with 12 kills today. Cailin Bula and Kristen Stehling each had 11.
Avery Acker had 44 assists. Morgan Heise had 22 digs.
The Mustangs are now 25-6 overall and 14-5 in The American.
SMU is at East Carolina to close out the regular season Friday afternoon.

2. SMU (14-5)
3. Temple (13-5)
4. Tulsa (13-6)
5. Memphis (12-6)
6. USF (7-11)
7. Cincinnati (7-12)
8. ECU (6-12)
9. Houston (6-13)
10. UConn (5-14)
11. Tulane (3-15)
Tonight's matches are Memphis at USF and Tulane at Temple, so SMU will likely be in a tie for second with Temple, but you never know.
