Taylor Curtis Joins SMU Men's Soccer
Dallas Native Transfers From Louisville

Jan. 20, 2015

DALLAS (SMU) - Sophomore defender Taylor Curtis, who spent the previous two seasons as part of the Louisville men's soccer team, has transferred to SMU with two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning immediately.

"We are very excited to add Taylor Curtis to the roster," Head Coach Kevin Hudson said. "He has gained tremendous experience in his first two years in college by participating in two NCAA tournaments. Taylor possesses a great balance of technique and athleticism that will make him a valuable member of the program. His versatility to play as a winger or outside back will provide him an opportunity to make an immediate impact here at SMU. We have high expectations for Taylor."

Curtis, a defender from Dallas, Texas, started all 17 matches on the backline for Louisville during his freshman season. The Cardinals only conceded 15 goals during an 11-5-4 season that saw a trip to the NCAA Tournament Second Round. The team also set program records for consecutive minutes played without allowing a goal (560) and consecutive shutouts (5). During the 2014 season, Curtis started a pair of matches for Louisville, who made it to the NCAA Third Round.

At Episcopal School of Dallas, Curtis scored 15 goals and posted 10 assists earing him Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors as a senior. He also earned All-Southwest Preparatory Conference honors once, and was a three-time All-North Zone First Team selection.

Curtis' mother played soccer at Dallas Baptist University, while his father played at Texas Wesleyan. He will join a Mustang squad that finished the 2014 season 10-6-2 with an appearance in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The team was also ranked as high as No. 21 in the NSCAA Division I poll.

Sounds like a nice addition to the team.

Taylor's father was a professional rodeo bareback rider!
