DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs beat Abilene Christian, 7-0, and McMurry, 6-0, in a double-header on Sunday at the Brad and Ann Brookshire Pavilion at the SMU Tennis Complex. SMU is now 4-0 on the season.

The Mustangs began the day with a 12 p.m. matchup with Abilene Christian. ACU won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, but SMU responded with a 6-3 win by junior Nate Lammons and sophomore Arkadijs Slobodkins at No. 2. Freshman Samm Butler and sophomore Tony Russell were facing match point, down 5-4, but rallied back to take the win at No. 3 and give SMU the match point and a 1-0 lead.

SMU then won all six singles matches, four of which came in straight sets. Senior Arturs Kazijevs won at No. 1 over Guilherme Gesser 6-2, 6-0; sophomore Markus Kerner won at No. 2 over Jason Proctor 6-2, 6-2; Lammons won at No. 4 against Henry Adams 6-1, 6-1; and Slobodkins beat Paul Domanski at No. 5 6-2, 6-3. Butler's match at No. 3 singles and freshman Charles Nettlefold's match against Marco Bensley were each played to a third-set tiebreak, with both Mustangs coming away victorious.

After a brief break in the afternoon, SMU was right back at it with a singles-only match versus McMurry. Sophomore Julio Olaya got the call to go in at No. 6 singles, which he won against Carlos Perez 6-1, 6-1. The other five poistions in the lineup remained the same, and all SMU players earned straight-set singles victories to give the Mustangs a 6-0 match victory.

Three Mustangs have 4-0 singles records to begin the year - Kazijevs, Butler and Lammons. Nettlefold is 3-0, and Kerner improved to 2-2 with two wins on Sunday. Lammons and Slobodkins are now 2-0 on the season in doubles action.

SMU will be back on the courts on Saturday to host No. 9 Texas at 4 p.m. CT.
