Congratulations to Ryan Berube, SMU HOF

Ryan Berube ranks as one of the most successful and accomplished swimmers ever to compete for SMU. Berube swam at SMU from 1993-96, earning All-America honors each season. The six-time SWC champion was named NCAA Swimmer of the Year in 1996 after winning the 200-yard IM, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke events at the NCAA Championships. Berube also won a gold medal as a member of the U.S. relay team in the 4x200-meter freestyle at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Berube holds SMU records in the 200 IM, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke

I wish I was Ryan, since we both swam backstroke and IM and he would have literally swam me out of the pool.

I swam in the Sixties for 'Red' Barr, when Perkins Natatorium was less than 10 years old and became the host for the AAU Swimming Nationals in 1968.

Times change. In my case, slower times when compared to Ryan and all the great swimmers from the 70s, 80s and 90s!

Ryan and his family sit in front of me in 104 at Ford. Makes all the games. Still active in swimming.
