Burnett Punches Ticket To NCAAs At Zone Diving Championship

March 9, 2015

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Devin Burnett earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship on Monday night at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championship at the University of Iowa's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.

The senior from Plano, Texas, finished seventh overall in the one-meter with a two-round score of 701.20, earning his third career bid to the national championship. Burnett also qualified as a freshman and sophomore.

The top eight finishers in the one-meter competition received automatic bids to the NCAA Championship March 26-28 at the same venue in Iowa City.

Also competing for SMU were senior Hayden Hodges and freshman David Bunn. Hodges finished 14th overall with a two-round score of 624.90, while Bunn placed 22nd in the preliminary round with a score of 270.60.

The competition continues tomorrow at 5:45 p.m. with the three-meter dive. The top six finishers in three-meter will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship. Live scoring will be available HERE.

What happened to KIng? Has not competed in any championships.

Looks like he's the only one going to the meet. Hopefully the new Nat will make it easier to recruit.
