PROVIDENCE, R.I. - SMU junior Jenny Haglund was named American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday. Haglund earned her fourth top-10 finish of the season at the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona, at the Longbow Golf Club, placing eighth.
The Karlstad, Sweden, native carded an opening round of 71 and followed with identical rounds of 76. For the event, Haglund had the fifth-most birdies (8), seventh-most pars (33) and fifth-best record on par 5's (-1).
This is the first weekly honor for the Mustangs this season. It is the second for Haglund but first in The American. She was tabbed Conference USA Golfer of the Week on Feb. 20, 2013.
SMU is No. 42 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. The Mustangs return to action on March 23 at the Spring Break Classic at the Bay Course in Kapalua, Hawai'i.
