Equestrian: United Conference Championship

No. 8 SMU will be competing in the United Equestrian Conference Championship this weekend in Fresno. Action gets underway Friday at 11am Texas Time.

The Mustangs are the 2-seed and face New Mexico State in the first round.

Score update from Fresno against NMSU.

SMU wins fences 3-1. Horsemanship finished 2-2.

SMU leads 5-3 overall.

SMU defeated New Mexico State 10-6!

SMU won reining 3-1 and finished even on the flat at 2-2.

The Mustangs will face Fresno State in the conference championship tomorrow.

Reining - Morgan Redwine, Casey Bibbs, Courtney Line
Horsemanship - Hannah McCain, Morgan Redwine

Emma Roberts with the double in hunt seat and Morgan Redwine with the double in western!

SMU wins fences 3-1. Fresno State wins horsemanship 4-0.

Fresno State is up 5-3 heading to the flat and reining.

Fresno State will win the conference championship.

The Bulldogs sweep reining 4-0 and lead 9-3 with only the flat scores remaining.

Fresno State wins the flat 3-1.

Final score: Fresno State 12, SMU 4.

Now, SMU will await the seeding for the national championship April 16-18 in Waco.

SMU points today against Fresno State:

Fences - Emma Roberts, Schaefer Raposa, Sylvia de Toledo
Flat - Emma Roberts

Reining - None
Horsemanship - None

Schaefer Raposa was MOP over fences.

Also, Emma Roberts had another double in hunt seat. Amazing.

Sylvia de Toledo was named the conference rider of the year over fences. Congratulations!
