M-Soccer: SMU vs. Portland

Postby DanFreibergerForHeisman » Mon Sep 07, 2015 5:19 pm

The Mustangs (2-1-1) host Portland (1-3-0) Thursday night at Westcott (7pm).

SMU is looking to bounce back after a tough road trip last weekend.

Portland lost their first three matches before defeating Vermont Sunday. The Pilots have conceded 11 goals in their four games. This will be Portland's first road trip of the season.

The Mustangs lead the all-time series with the Pilots 2-1-0, with the home team winning all three matches.

Go Mustangs!

Is there a site that tracks college soccer scores?
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs

Top Drawer Soccer has all of the scores but it isn't live.

The best way to follow live scores is to find various gametrackers of games in progress.

Very entertaining game that the Mustangs should have won. Pretty even first half that felt closer than the 9-5 SMU advantage in shots, but after the intermission, the Mustangs had Portland reeling, outshooting the Pilots, 16-7 in the second half and in the overtimes.

A couple of new faces are playing larger roles: midfielder Caleb Smith got the second of his young career, freshman forward Christian Boorom got his first, and freshman Emil Cuello came off the bench to fire a game-high eight shots, one of which bounced off the goalpost and another of which rocked the crossbar. Goalkeeper Michael Nelson got his second shutout of the season.
