Valadez Named Conference Offensive Player Of The Week
Valadez had three goals through two games, including the game winner in the final minute against East Carolina

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) – Vanessa Valadez has been named the American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player Of The Week, the conference announced today.
The redshirt freshman contributed three goals across two conference games against Cincinnati and East Carolina.
Valadez’s standout performance of the season came in a 2-1 victory over East Carolina, where she scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation. The Kingwood, Texas native also scored on a penalty kick, early in the first half, to give the Mustangs the 1-0 lead.
Against Cincinnati, Valadez stepped up to take a penalty in the second half and buried it in the top left corner of the net. Her goal gave SMU the lead, and the Mustangs would go on to tie the Bearcats, 2-2.
Valadez has been stellar this season, leading the team in goals (7), points (18) and assists (4). It is Valadez's second conference honor in 2015, previously being named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 14.
The Mustangs are 4-4-3 on the season, and 1-0-1 in AAC play.
The Mustangs will hit the road to take on conference foe Tulsa on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
