M-Soccer: SMU at South Florida

The Mustangs have a huge American conference game Saturday night against South Florida in Tampa. The match starts at 6pm Texas time.

No. 12 SMU is 11-2-2 and 6-0-0 in American play. The Bulls are ranked No. 13 and are 10-3-1 overall and 5-0-1 in conference action.

The Mustangs are currently in first place in The American. The winner Saturday night will have the inside track for the regular season conference championship.

This match will be streamed live by The American Digital Network.

I should know the answer to this, but how does the selection for the tournament work? Does just the conference champ have a guaranteed spot or do they go by rankings.

Conference tournament champions get automatic bids.

The rest of the at-large field is pretty much filled by the RPI rankings.

Currently, our RPI is 16.

I saw the team in the Tampa airport last night.

I'll be at the football game (which will overlap the start of the soccer game) so the most I could see is the second half, but I may try anyway. Go Mustangs!

SMU almost gets caught on a counter after yet another dangerous counter but SMU was able to keep the ball out of the net.
