Camara Named Offensive Player Of The Week
Scored Three Goals In 1-0-1 Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (American/SMU) – Following an undefeated week in conference action, No. 12 SMU men’s soccer player Idi Camara was honored by the American Athletic Conference as the Offensive Player of the Week.
Camara, a senior forward from Denver, Colorado, scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 victory over Tulsa. In a 2-2 double overtime draw against No. 13 USF, Camara scored the second goal of the match for the Mustangs.
The award is the Mustangs’ eighth player of the week this season with Mauro Cichero earning Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19, Oct. 5 and Sept. 7, Nelson earning Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 12, Emil Cuello earning Rookie of the Week on Oct. 5 and Sept. 21 and Jared Rice earning Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 28.
The Mustangs currently sit in first place in AAC standings with a record of 6-0-1, 11-2-3 overall and post an unbeaten streak of 9-0-1. SMU leads the conference in shots (240), points (96), assists (36) and assists per game (2.25).
Goalkeeper Nelson leads The American in saves with 61 and averages 3.81 saves-per-game. Cichero is in second place in shots (60), points (26) and goals (10). Sophomore Jared Rice is tied for first in assists with eight.
The Ponies are back in action for their final regular season test when they host Temple on Oct. 31 for Senior Night at Westcott Field. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. CT.
