Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)Game day! Should be a tough match. Let's get em beat early and get ready for Rutgers/Akron.
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)Denver game time forecast 44 degrees with no precipitation and light wind. Temperatures dropping into the upper 30s by the end of the match.
Go Mustangs! Shake It Off Moody
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)Really hope they can pull this off!
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)Look better so far than last game. More poised. Now need to work on that last pass and touch in the final 1/3rd.
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)And now...we are back to weak first touch, reactive, long ball play again. Need to play within and use strengths.
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)0-0 w/ DU having likely a 65-35 possession ration over the past 20 minutes. Game turned about 20 minutes in...DU has control with SMU attempting to build on the counter when they aren't just hoofing it out or turning the ball over in their defensive zone. What started off as an organized ground/control game has turned into a bit of chaos when we get the ball...and that's only if we don't lose it on a poor clearance or first pass.
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)0-0 at the half.
Denver has had the better chances. SMU did hit a crossbar. Shake It Off Moody
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)Half closes at 0-0 with SMU turning the tide and having a majority of the possession in the final 10 minutes. They worked small passes and short runs in the middle of the field to control the game, but still suffered from both bad touches and poor finishing in the final 3rd.
If we can build off the final 10 minutes of the 1st half, that would bode well for a good second 45 and help take home the win. I would also point out that attendance seems to be good for this game with the stands visible on TV being mostly full. Good home support for DU in weather that would definitely make Saturdays SMU football fans run for cover! (couldn't help with that one!)
Re: M-Soccer: SMU at Denver (NCAA Second Round)DU starts off the 2nd 45 the same way most of the 1st went...dominating possession and pressuring SMU at every chance. With a better last pass this game would likely be out of touch by now. SMU needs to step up their play and poise on the ball.
