Nlemchi And Skatteboe Each Earn Event Wins At Houston
SMU Comes Away With Several Top Five Finishes

HOUSTON, TEXAS (SMU) – The SMU women’s track and field team finished competition at the Houston Invitational Saturday with thrower Tochi Nlemchi and distance runner Karoline Skatteboe each coming away with event wins at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.

Skatteboe won the mile run with a time of 4:51.63, just edging out Tricia Terry (4:52.36), Rice’s Elsa Racasan (4:53.26), Sarah Rapp (4:55.69) and SMU teammate Holly Archer (4:55.94). SMU’s team in the distance medley relay came in second place with a final time of 12:21.57 behind Abilene Christian’s 12:13.34.

Other top distance results came in the 3000-meter with Anneke Grogan finishing in fourth with a 10:05.39 and Rakel Barrientos in fifth with a time of 10:05.70. In the 5000-meter Cassidy Webber came in third with an 18:28.48 time and Rebekah Bosler followed right behind with a time of 18:32.91.

Nlemchi won the shot put with a 15.40-meter throw to beat out Kristine Hanks (14.86 m) of Sam Houston State and SMU teammate Jacquetta Cannon who’s best throw went 14.63 meters. Nlemchi was also the Mustangs’ best performer in the weight throw coming in sixth with a 16.23-meter throw.
