Lammons Tabbed Conference Player Of The Week
Senior Picked Up Six Wins To Push SMU To 7-4

March 1, 2016

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/AAC) – SMU’s Nate Lammons was named the American Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of week on Tuesday. Lammons posted a perfect combined record of 6-0 as the Mustangs went 2-1 last week.

Lammons is the first Mustang to win a conference player of the week award since Markus Kerner earned the honor last season on March 10, 2015.

Lammons collected his first two wins against then-No. 17 Memphis. In doubles play, Lammons teamed up with Arkadijs Slobodkins to take down the duo of Ryan Peniston and Felix Rauch, 6-4. The Woodlands, Texas, native continued the momentum into singles play defeating Kai Lemke in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

Two days later SMU hosted a doubleheader that started with Eastern Washington and ended against George Washington. Lammons sustained his play against both opponents, winning two matches each in doubles and singles play while playing at the No. 1 position in three of those four matches.

The senior is currently on a six-match win streak in singles play and eight-match win streak in doubles action with teammate Slobodkins. Lammons holds the second best mark in singles and doubles play at 14-3 and 15-5 respectively.

SMU hosts three matches this week, starting with conference-foe Temple Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT.
