SMU has won five of its last seven; one position shy of tying program record
WACO, Texas (NCEA/SMU) -The SMU equestrian team climbed to No. 6 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll, the NCEA announced Tuesday. The No. 6 spot in the poll is the highest ranking this season and one position shy of tying its all-time highest ranking, which was achieved during the 2011-12 season.
"We are definitely improving," SMU head coach Carol Gwin said. "It has been nice to have a couple of weeks to prepare for a tough matchup on the road this weekend.
"I am pleased with moving up in the rankings, but we need to be more focused on finishing the rest of the season with some quality wins," Gwin added.
The Mustangs have won five of their last seven meets, including a sweep in Martin, Tennessee, where SMU clinched a neutral-site win against Delaware State, 9-6, on Feb. 12, before knocking off UT Martin, 9-5, the following day.
The top five remains the same, while SMU switch positions with TCU. Fresno State is the only other United Equestrian Conference team ranked by the NCEA, sliding from the No. 8 to No. 10.

Both meets are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET/8:30 CT.
