Smotherman Earns All-Conference Honors
Third All-Conference Team Honor
PROVIDENCE, Conn. (AAC/SMU) – SMU senior Austin Smotherman was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team, the league announced Friday. Smotherman has been named to three All-Conference teams, twice in the American Athletic Conference and once in Conference USA.
The Loomis, Calif., native matched his career-best finish as runner-up twice this season, using an 8-under 208 at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate in October, before shooting a 5-under 211 at The Farms Collegiate Invite. In his final collegiate event, Smotherman carded a 4-under par to finish tied for fifth at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational. He averaged a score of 72.26 and totaled 13 rounds at par or better this season.
In his four-year career at SMU, he tallied 16 top-10 finishes and seven top-five tournaments. He finished as runner-up three times. Smotherman shot par or better in 49 career rounds and scored in the 60s 21 times.
Smotherman recently finished tied for 52nd in the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada Qualifying School at the Crown Isle Resort and Golf Club in Courtenay, British Columbia.
