Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)1-1 56 minutes into game. Stanford winning most 50 balls but great play from the SMU keeper
Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)Stanford scores 66 minutes in now 2-1
Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)3-1 Stanford at the end
Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)I didn't get a chance to watch the game out here, but were two penalty kicks legit for Stanford or a bit of home cooking.
Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)Too bad it would have been great to put it on Stanford.
Shake It Off Moody
Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)One of penalty kicks was questionable, but the second one was correct. Stanford dominated possession in first half, but it was closer in the second even with Stanford scoring twice. Nice goalkeeping on both sides. A good test for the Ponies and best success against Santa Clara tomorrow. I'm going to try to get there.
Re: Men's Soccer vs. #1 Stanford Thurs (9/7)I thought the second PK was a weak call. Stanford's star freshman, who's really good (and scored a terrific goal earlier for what turned out to be the game-winner), tried to split two SMU defenders and went down, but he wasn't tripped. From what I saw, he initiated contact with one defender (don't remember who) and bounced into the second (Talen Maples) before falling. It was a physical play, but he wasn't tripped, and as I saw it, nobody lifted an elbow or anything. Maples seemed pretty upset, and I thought he had a good case.
