Thornton, Torres Named to United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SMU) – Allie Thornton and Celiana Torres were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team, the organization announced on Monday.
Thornton was one of four forwards named to the team after a spectacular performance in 2019 that helped her break into SMU's career records in multiple categories. The senior finished with 13 goals, six game-winners, three assists and 55 shots. She also converted three of four penalty kicks. This is Thornton's second time on a United Soccer Coaches All-South Region team, being named to the Third Team after the 2018 season.
Torres found a place on the team as one of five midfielders after leading the Mustangs in assists for the season with nine total. She also netted five goals for a total of 19 points and finished with 54 shots, one behind Thornton. This is the sophomore's first time being named to a United Soccer Coaches All-South Region team.
