i wonder - if by chance - if c-usa will be putting any strings on the order for smu to organize a baseball team within a certain amount of yrs? whether it be adding additional women's sports or dropping some of our weaker men's sports?
because of limited space, we could even build a 'green monster' for our outfield...now that would really be interesting!

green monster? that's the wrong model, a very deep center field and short right field porch.
if we want a model, go for the classic that's a winner, the house that ruth build.

I really hope that Conference USA forces us to come up with a baseball team, and therefore, a first class baseball facility.
With the red brick architecture we already have on campus, I would prefer going with the Wrigley Field look. We could even have ivy on the outfield wall.

Maybe it would even look onto the beautiful downtown Dallas skyline...

Being a CUB fan (and we think the Mustangs are starved for a championship), it's fun to think of a brick, Georgian Baseball Field at SMU.
But, we have no space period. We lack enough field for intramuals. We would need to add at least two new Women's Teams (softball with its own field), lacrosse with a field, etc.) or cut a Men's sport. I don't see a single candidate for eliminating

Great idea, not practical. Off campus field won't meet the objective either.

I think they'll allow us to continue focusing on soccer and leave baseball to the other schools. They get the NCAA champions in Rice. They'd love to have the NCAA soccer champs too. Unless someone has $40 Million, baseball ain't coming back to the Hilltop.

You would be surprised at how much land SMU owns east of the main campus. There are houses still on the properties, but they are rental properties now. Not all of them, but quite a few.

I believe we are adding a new women's Equestrian Team. That should bump up the number of women athlete's quite a bit without cutting any of the men's sports. And maybe its enough to add baseball. Now, let's tear down those houses and start building a field.

GREAT PIX smu blue!!!!!!!
if there is a 'will', there's a way...being that c-usa a a big bb conference, it may be to our advantage to pursue the sport which of course would bleed over into our other sports, too.....just watching the cws the last several yrs just get your blood rushing!!!
yep, you're right though - it would be expensive...
as for space, that could be available as well given the $$$ & the vision & of course - time...
it just seems bb is becoming more & more popular now days, it appears to finally blossoming as an ncaa sport after all these yrs of lying dormant & playing third & fourth fiddle to the others...
until we get it - i'll just go back to being a rice fan in the spring, i guess

Aren't we holding onto that land east of campus in hopes that we will be able to get W's presidential library? If it comes down to baseball or a presidential library (even W's) I would take the library.
