Rowing Earns NCAA Championships Bid | May 28-30 Sarasota, Fla.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - No. 12 SMU earned a trip to the NCAA Championships final stage for the first time in program history. The event will take place at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida May 28-30.

The Mustangs received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships after winning the American Athletic Conference Championships for the program's first conference championship in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. SMU won every race on May 16 on Melton Lake to beat out defending conference champion, UCF and take the conference crown.

SMU's V8+ earned the highest event seed in American Athletic Conference history at No. 10. The 2V8+ came in at No. 9 which was also an AAC record-high seed for the event. Lastly the Mustangs' V4+ will be the No. 16 seed. The 22-team championship begins on Friday, May 28.

It’s a great accomplishment for sure. By the way, a few years back my son rowed in the high school nationals at the same facility in Sarasota where they’ll have the NCAA Championships.
