Men's soccer jumps to No. 2 in the country

Men’s soccer No. 2 in all three polls
DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs improved in all three polls on Tuesday, including being ranked No. 2 in United Soccer Coaches, College Soccer News, as well as Top Drawer Soccer.
United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News polls placed the Mustangs at No. 2 and No. 2, respectively. Top Drawer Soccer placed SMU, whom they previously had ranked at No. 3, improved the Mustangs by one spot — placing them at No. 2. NCAA Men's Soccer also placed the Mustangs at No. 5 in regards to RPI.
The Mustangs are currently 7-1 overall, including four shutouts — one of which was against then-No. 25 Oral Roberts.
Since the latest poll releases, the Mustangs defeated USF on the road, 2-1, in their American Athletic Conference matchup. This game featured a penalty kick save from senior goalkeeper Cole Johnson and two goals from Hermann Trophy Watch List member Jelldrik Dallmann.
Johnson has been named the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week, with teammates Jelldrik Dallmann also being named AAC Offensive Player of the Week and Mads Westergren named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
The Mustangs boast a 14-1-1 overall record at Washburne Stadium since its inaugural season in 2022.
The Mustangs return home on Wednesday, Sept. 27 against Grand Canyon, kick-off is slated for 7 p.m and the game will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
