Jaclynn Fowler Punches NCAA Ticket In Day One of Zone Championships
HOUSTON, Texas (SMU) — During day one of the NCAA Zone Diving Championship, senior diver Jaclynn Fowler qualified for NCAAs in the 1 meter diving event.
Fowler, a California native, placed ninth out of 52 divers in the 1 meter final. She earned a score of 572.05, allowing her to punch her ticket to the upcoming 2024 Swimming and Diving National Championship.
"Jaclynn dove great today," head diving coach Darian Schmidt said. "She stayed composed and focused throughout the whole day. This is one of the toughest meets to get through in the country and she fought hard and got the job done."
Teammate and fellow diver Nicole Stambo also made the 1 meter final in Monday's portion of zones alongside Fowler. She totaled 555.25, earning fourteenth place.
"It felt absolutely amazing finding out I qualified for NCAAs in the one meter event today," Fowler said. "The momentum for the next two days is to focus on what we can control. Every dive counts so staying in the moment is crucial. I know [Nicole] Stambo and I are ready to show the judges what we can do."
