SMU Volleyball Ranked No. 15 by AVCA, No. 11 in NCAA RPI

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU Volleyball earned the program's highest ranking in both the AVCA Coaches Poll and NCAA RPI this week, coming in at No. 15 in the AVCA Poll and No. 11 in the NCAA's first edition of the RPI rankings for the 2024 season.

The Mustangs went 2-0 this week, coming off a sweep at Syracuse Friday night and a five-set victory over Boston College on Sunday. On the season, SMU is 12-3 and is a perfect 4-0 in ACC play in their first year as a member of the conference. SMU's 4-0 start has them tied for first place in the league standings.

SMU Volleyball's previous highest rankings were No. 17 in the AVCA last week and No. 24 in the NCAA RPI to finish the 2023 season.

SMU Volleyball will conclude their seven-game road trip against No. 1 Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. CT, airing on the ACC Network.

This team is emerging as a highly competitive, national-ranked team. Very impressive, especially in its first year in a P4 Conference. Did anyone expect this?

Transfer portal can really make an immediate difference as we added 2-3 key players but this team was pretty competitive last year, too
