No. 24 Mustangs Win 13 Events, Dominate Oklahoma Christian And Incarnate Word

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Swimming & Diving recorded 13 victories as the 24th-ranked Mustangs defeated Oklahoma Christian and Incarnate Word on Friday afternoon at Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.

200 Medley Relay
In the first event of the meet, the Mustangs' 200 medley relay squad of Jack Berube, Joe Rusnock, Russell Exum and Sage Sungail claimed first with a time of 1:27.91. SMU's team of Asher Good, Ewan Lonergan, Jack Moore and Eli Likins touched the wall in 1:34.80 in an exhibition.

1000 Free
During the first individual event of the day, freshman Laszlo Galicz threw down the third-fastest time in Mustangs history of 9:05.72 en route to the victory. Jack Forrest recorded a 9:05.78 to join Galicz on the podium.

Also competing in the event were Mark Van Eybergen and Hunter Lund, who recorded times of 9:23.46 and 9:31.08, respectively.

200 Free
Jack Hoagland claimed the victory in the event with a mark of 1:36.18, and Jack Moore joined him on the podium after touching the wall in 1:37.88.

Harold Lockhart and Sage Sungail also placed for SMU, earning times of 1:38.90 and 1:41.34.

100 Back
Earning his first victory as a Mustang, Jack Berube led the way with a time of 49.46. Russell Exum was right behind him, touching the wall in 49.51 to take second.

Also placing in the event was Rob McCall, who finished fourth with a mark of 50.56.

100 Breast
Joe Rusnock earned the victory in the fourth event of the afternoon with a time of 54.61, while Angus Corbeau touched the wall in 55.23 to take third.

Kristaps Mikelsons tallied a time of 55.46 and Joe Umhofer had a personal-best mark of 56.52 to take fourth and fifth for SMU, respectively.

200 Fly
With a time of 1:46.97, Cotton Fields recorded another victory for the Mustangs, while Ryan Peckham and Jack Hoagland joined him on the podium with marks of 1:48.39 and 1:49.44.

Also competing for the Mustangs was Nico Sobenes, who placed fourth with a time of 1:50.47.

50 Free
Connor McClintic recorded a time of 20.80, Michael Ripper touched the wall in 20.84, Lance Butler saw a mark of 20.89 and Kaleb Ikbal tallied a time of 21.34 to take fourth through seventh for SMU.

3-Meter Diving
Luke Sitz recorded a score of 428.03, just eight points shy of a school record, to take first, while John Dymond claimed second with a mark of 346.65.

100 Free
In the first event following the break, Sage Sungail threw down a 44.67 to take second and Michael Ripper recorded a 45.11 to place third.

Also in the event was Kaleb Ikbal and Lance Butler, who touched the wall in 45.69 and 45.98, respectively.

200 Back
Rob McCall took the victory with a time of 1:48.52, and Jack Berube came in second after touching the wall in 1:49.09.

Russell Exum earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:50.40.

200 Breast
The 200 breast saw three Mustangs take podium finishes, with Jack Hoagland leading the way after touching the wall in a personal-best 1:58.61.

Angus Corbeau and Kristaps Mikelsons joined him on the podium with marks of 2:01.83 and 2:02.57, respectively. Joe Rusnock placed seventh in the event with a time of 2:06.24.

500 Free
With the victory already secured for the Mustangs, only Jack Forrest's winning mark of 4:23.39 counted in the placements.

Laszlo Galicz, Harold Lockhart, Mark Van Eybergen and Hunter Lund also saw action in the event as exhibitions.

100 Fly
Russell Exum recorded a victory with a time of 48.55 in the event. Leif Bouwman, Nico Sobenes, Kaleb Ikbal, Ben Longeway and Cameron Thompson competed in the event as exhibitions.

1-Meter Diving
Luke Sitz tallied a score of 369.90 on 1-meter, while John Dymond saw a mark of 303.00.

200 IM
Jack Moore recorded a mark of 1:49.06 to take first in the event. Angus Corbeau, Cotton Fields, Ryan Peckham and Ben Longeway also saw action as exhibitions.

400 Free Relay
The 400 free relay saw the Mustangs' team of Jack Hoagland, Jack Forrest, Harold Lockhart and Sage Sungail take first with a time of 2:57.49.
