Sitz wins ACC-record sixth Diver Of The Week award
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC/SMU) – SMU standout diver Luke Sitz has been tabbed as the ACC Diver of the Week for a conference-record sixth time this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Sitz earns the honor after winning on 1-meter and getting a runner-up finish on 3-meter during SMU's double-dual victory over Pitt & Utah.
He opened the meet with a victory on 1-meter after recording a score of 364.55. His final three dives all scored above 64. The freshman followed that up with a runner up finish on 3-meter after earning a mark of 403.20, just 3.90 points away from the victory.
This marks Sitz's sixth ACC Diver of the Week accolade, the most by a single diver in a single season in the history of the award.
The Prosper native has recorded podium finishes in every event he's competed in this season. In addition, Sitz has been named ACC Diver of the Week following each of his meets as an SMU diver.
The Freshman's success is not limited to his performances as a Mustang, as he also competed at the World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships on behalf of the United States during the week of Thanksgiving. Sitz posted three top-six finishes, including placing fifth on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
His fast start to his collegiate career was foreshadowed last summer when he recorded two top-four finishes at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, the highest finisher below the age of 20 on both 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized.
