Luke Sitz punches ticket to NCAA Championships on 1-meter
IOWA CITY, Iowa (SMU) – Mustangs' freshman diver Luke Sitz secured his spot at the NCAA Championships with a solid performance on 1-meter on Monday at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at Campus Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Iowa.
Sitz posted a cumulative final score of 735.90 in 12 dives during prelims and finals to place third in the event and earn a qualifying spot. The freshman recorded seven scores of 60 or higher to reach his final score.
John Dymond saw action on 1-meter in prelims, earning a score of 259.65 to tie for 19th, just one spot out of a finals qualification.
Both Dymond and Sitz are set to return on Tuesday at noon to compete on 3-meter. To qualify for the event at NCAA's, Sitz must place in the top 12, while Dymond needs a top-nine finish.
The 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships are set for March 26-29 in Federal Way, Washington. A full list of swimming qualifiers for the event will be announced on Wednesday.
