Clausen tabbed March Arion Sellier Reining Rider of the Month

WACO, Texas (NCEA/SMU) – Mustangs graduate student Shelby Clausen was named the March Arion Sellier Reining Rider of the Month by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) on Wednesday.

In SMU's two meets in the month, Clausen posted a 2-0 record in Reining while also earning MOP honors. This extended her win streak to four, the longest of her SMU career.

Against No. 3 Oklahoma State, Clausen posted a score of 76.5 to take the win and the MOP for the event. The Cave Creek, Arizona, native's score was her highest since she joined SMU prior to last season.

Her success continued against top-ranked Auburn on March 7, when she picked up the victory over Callie Hogg after posting a score of 72 to best Hogg's 71.25.

On the season, Clausen has a record of 9-5-0 in Reining to bring her career Mustang record to 17-13-0.

No. 1 SMU (10-4) awaits its NCEA Championships matchup riding a seven-meet win streak dating back to January 31 against South Dakota State. The full, eight-team bracket for the NCEA Championships will be announced on April 1, just over two weeks prior to the tournament commencing on April 17 at World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida.
