Eight Mustangs earn ACC All-Academic honors
CHARLOTTE, N. C. (ACC/SMU) – Eight SMU Women's Swimming and Diving student-athletes were included in the ACC All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Rachel Anderson, Isabella Bedoya, Isabella Krantzcke, Olivia Lind, Hannah Lockyer, Lauren Priest, Tiffanie Ruan and Carlotta Scarpitti were the eight Mustangs receiving honors.
Anderson earned her academic honors by maintaining a 3.71 GPA in her masters studies in sport management. The Somerset, England, native holds spots in the SMU All-Time performers list, has two NCAA B standard times and was an ACC Championships finalist.
Bedoya held a 3.56 GPA in the fall semester while maintaining a 3.1 career GPA. The sprinter swam the freestyle leg of SMU's 200 medley relay that finished 13th in the ACC Championships. She placed second in the 100 free and 100 fly at dual meet against FIU.
Krantzcke is working on her undergraduate degree in applied physiology and health management, currently maintaining a GPA of 3.88. The breaststroke specialist swept the 100 and 200 breast events at SMU's dual meets against FIU and Rice.
Lind is studying marketing and currently holds a 3.28 career GPA after maintaining a 3.26 GPA in the fall. The senior from New York contributed for the Mustangs in their first ACC Championships.
Lockyer is in her third year as a real estate major, holding a 3.25 career GPA. The breastroke specialist competed in three events for SMU at the ACC Championships.
Priest has a career GPA of 3.85 and a 3.75 GPA last fall while in her second year of studying marketing. The sophomore is part of SMU's team that took on its first ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C..
Ruan led the Mustangs in the senior group at their first ACC Championships. She has a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall and a 3.89 career GPA while majoring in applied physiology and health management.
Scarpitti is an environmental engineering major with a 3.74 career GPA. The Rome, Italy, native is a prominent scorer in the Mustangs' 100 fly, 200 fly and 400 IM events.
This award is Anderson, Krantzcke, Ruan and Scarpitti's second academic award of the season. They were named CSC Academic All-District earlier this season for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.
