I don't remember which year it was but back in the 80's, SMU killed it on Wheel of Fortune during College Week. It's hard to believe how long that show has been on TV with the original hosts.

In the early 70's, when Jeopardy held its first College Week, SMU was the winner. I guess we're just trivial people ! :)

Not worth it at all. Would have gotten the same job with a degree from any other school in Texas

So 4 years at Texas is cheaper than ONE semester at SMU....I think I'll be pointing my kids to the state school

Unless there is scholarship, grant, or whatever other dollars involved - it ain't worth it!!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

You guys make me giggle. There probably are not 100 kids at SMU that pay that sticker price. We give HUGE financial aid and scholarship packages to the vast majority of our students.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Cut that cost in half and you get what the average SMU student is paying on a yearly basis.

I can possibly believe that.

That's what I'm saying though - "Unless there is scholarship, grant, or whatever other dollars involved - it ain't worth it"

Unless you're in Cox or Lyle, paying - on average - $35k per year is ridiculous.

Perhaps our Sociology and Political Science degrees are better than our local state peers - but not twice as good.

You get what you pay for in all walks of life. For me, it was cheaper to attend SMU than UT after you factor in all the hidden fees associated with state schools that get buried beneath the tuition. If you want to sit in a classroom with 400-700 other students at UT or in a classroom with 35-50 other students at SMU that is certainly your choice. For me the value of a great, private school education outweighed being just another number at big dumb state U.

My son was offered an SMU scholarship the made tuition equivalent to UT. UT West Campus is far more expensive than living around SMU. So in his case the cost to attend UT would have been cheaper than SMU.
I think most SMU students are heavily subsidized - as are all private school college students. After all, there is a very small group,of families who can afford 60K after tax for college.
