Summer Fishing Trip

Postby CoxMustangFan » Fri Jun 05, 2015 5:22 pm

Thought I would throw this out to the group. Looking to take the boys (12 and 10) on a summer fishing trip. I have a place reserved on Lake Vermillion (MN). Anyone been there or have another MN spot you would suggest?

Thanks!

You need to find General Patton/Big10 Pony Fan, and I have gone brain dead on his other moniker. He is from Minnesota. He has quit posting under known names but may still read the board. Look him up and send him a message. He is a nice guy.

Ely, MN 20-30 miles to the east of there is very nice. Smallies, walleye, and pike. Vermillion should be amazing. You'll need a boat. The place looks like a flat Colorado.

Thanks guys. We normally go to Table Rock/Arky every year with the in-laws, but family drama has extended me the chance to try something new this year. Have four days of guides lined up. Vermillion looks good, but wanted to see if anyone had a better suggestion.

Southern Minnesota University would disagree.

Red Wing is ok if you are looking to do something other than fishing and if you come into the cities, the surly brewery is unreal. Great beers and foods and family friendly. Always packed.

My experience with fishing the area was on a weeklong canoe trip in the Boundary Waters. Tell your guides what you prefer, solitude and beauty, large fish, etc. and they will set you up. Lovely area.
