The author does not even represent the views of the Methodist Church regarding the library. Who does he represent? Certainily, not just himself? There are certainly "no hooks in his [deleted]" and he should feel free to leave anytime he wishes.
He is just the type that never believed that the SWC would breakup and that we should play soccer games for homecoming!

Can't decide which way to respond, so I'll try both:
1. The idea of not wanting the bookmobile at our alma mater has nothing to do with Clinton's library. I have no desire to go to Arkansas to see that, but I sure as hell don't want this thing at SMU.
2. Not wanting the library at SMU has nothing to do with "hate." I've met President Bush. Seems like a nice man. I have no reason to hate him. But I still don't want this thing associated with SMU in any way.

Very true, it has nothing to do with the Clinton library.
I'm glad you've had the pleasure of meeting President Bush and you find him quite personable, but 99.99% of people who do not want the presidential library at SMU have a political motive for thinking so. My only concern is that the ability to withhold information from his presidency for a prolonged period of time may be abused, but only time will tell if that is going to be the case.
In any case, the presidential library will bring increased revenue to the university, heightened recognition nationally and internationally, and new opportunities for the political science majors at our school to examine first hand President Bush's eight years of presidency. Why pass up an opportunity like this? Sure he's controversial, but that will only make the library more popular and the documents and books inside more interesting. The library isn't about whether we support the actions and decisions the president made during his term, rather it is about the opportunities it will open up for the university itself.

Well said, PerunaPower.
Rational debate is at the heart of why Presidential Libraries exist. They contribute to the pursuit of truth. Since history is written by the victors, the Far Left and those who are hate filled radicalized Muslims will probably be the authors. And, that will be a sad for all Americans, regardless of our political persausion.

Getting a presidential library is a boon for the school even if it was George W. Bush, Richard Nixon, Warren Harding, Andrew Johnson, or Chester Arthur. To quote the "Field of Dreams", "If you build it, they will come". It is a gift that keeps on giving for generations. 100 years from now, people will be curious about 9/11, the Iraq Conflict, the War on Terror, Medicare Part D and will come to Dallas. They'll walk into the library and the sign will say $10 admission just to look around. And they'll pass it over without a thought for its answers they seek and validation they crave. Yes, they'll come, most definintely they'll come. And then they walk around campus, see the co-eds (at that point wearing even less clothing) and their 300 lb son will say, "Dad, this is where I want to play football." I will definitely be helping to raise funds for the library when it is signed and sealed.
