We interrupt this program...

To bring you a word from our newest sponsor -- Fulllen's School of Self Defense.

Having been a student of the martial arts on and off for the last 20 years, what I like most about FSSD is their refreshing lack of pretension and salesmanship. Nobody attends FSSD for their fancy facilities (classes are taught at the Walnut Hill Recreation Center about 5 minutes north of Park Cities/Preston Hollow) or quick acquisition of a black belt. People attend because David Fullen is a terrific instructor who fosters an atmosphere of learning and camaraderie.

Many martial artists 'graduate' to Kempo because they want to acquire more progressive combat/street self defense techniques to supplement the traditional training they've received in the past. However Kempo is also great for beginners as it teaches excellent fundamentals. And since Kempo is an American martial art (the style's foundation is Chinese, but the system was developed in Hawaii in the '40s), the terminology is much easier to acquire (it's in English).

There are dozens of reasons to check out FSSD including: it's a great workout, improved conditioning, balance and flexibility, self-confidence, instilling good values into kids, and learning how to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Visitors are encouraged if you just want to come out and try a class or two. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays; kids from 5-6 pm, adults from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Please check out their write-up on our sponsors page http://www.ponyfans.com/sponsors/ or visit the school website at http://www.fssdchinesekempo.com/
