Looking for two venues -- a place the family can have dinner together(went to JTG's in Ft Worth last trip and liked it) and a place the students can go to party when Mom and Dad head back to the hotel.
For the students, two words: Lower Greenville.
For the family, Campisi's on Mockingbird (right around the corner from Lower Greenville - be sure to order the pizza, so many uninformed visitors don't).
Or one of the chain restaurants in the West End near the Hyatt.
Or one of the big chain restaurants off of I-35E north of the Hyatt.
