I think "Don't Stop Bo Levi-ing" is much more tasteful.

That shouldn't fly in any world. How disgusting.

Now I know there are some Jewish kids in that band over the past 20 years, wonder if they thought it was funny.

This kind of offensive is extremely common in college and high school bands, fraternities, sports teams, etc.

Doesn't make it right, of course...

Agreed. Just dont get the faux outrage. Everyone here has done things worthy of outrage in their youth.

Ohio State Band - WOW

Postby PonySnob » Fri Jul 31, 2015 9:44 pm

If a fraternity did that, the public would be calling got them to be shutdown/kicked off campus. The band should not be treated any differently. Ohio State alums should be embarrassed that their school would have an organization like that. They should be calling for an end to the organization. If the Mustang band did this, I would hope that Turner, the SMU administration and SMU alumni would be demanding the shut down of the organization.

If it's one thing that needs to be changed its the ridiculous "shut down" mentality. It is a result of laziness. Figure out who or what causes this and change it. No need to shut down bands, fraternities etc. it's just a public way to make sure you pay homage to the "I'm more offended then you are" crowd.

I don't know what it worse, the lyrics of the songs or the people who are defending it. That is really scary for adults to be defending it.

I don't think anyone is defending anything.

Taken to the extreme, it could be argued that Ohio State should be "shut down."

In any large group, bad leadership and values can lead to crazy bad decisions/outcomes (Sandusky, SAE Oklahoma, Florida A&M Band deaths). When things like this are discovered, a group must:
1) replace the leadership
2) change its values
3) punish/expel culprits from the group.
