Please do me a favor and then I am going to drop out of this argument since it just goes in circles. You know how to pull up old quotes and I am too computer illiterate to do so. What I need is for you to post the Orsini quote that said the 2 new horses, after introduction at the Navy game would be stabled and then the next season (this upcoming year) a decision would be made as to how they would be used. That way the comparison of the 2 quotes can show why I am wary of what is said since one has already been proven to be untue.

In JJ's first meeting with the team he said he was going to do 3 things
1. "Change the mentality of the team" 2. "Change the culture of the campus" 3. "And get rid of that damn pony"
Bye-Bye Peruna

Well, if the administration isn't going to let June have cart blanche on the players he wants to bring in, one would hope they don't let him have cart blanche to rewriting every tradition around these parts. Maybe they can show some consistency for once in their lives.

Well that's exciting. Hopefully we'll remember that June is a simple employee who will be here for a maximum of about 5-7 years, and then he'll be gone. The only legacy he ought to leave is a bunch of W's on the score card. He ain't the University, and he ought not to be f*%67ing with something older, and more important than he is.
Agreed - he will be gone after 5-7 years but he knows in order to get those W's he has to change things up. No matter what the traditions are. What happened to the "Rainbow Warriors"? June got rid of it. Plus no player enjoyed running out behind a pony that s*** on our sidelines every game. The players hated it-so he promised he'd get rid of it. Call me new-school but I'm liking the changes he's making and I hope he gets his wish of Black Jerseys.

I'd be willing to bet that if the team was running out of the tunnel with a record of 9-1, 10-1, they'd be pretty happy just giving a one fingered salute to whoever doesn't like and then laugh when the small horse runs up and down the field for each of 9 touchdowns. Well, at least that's how I'd feel personally. Ex: Oh, you don't like it? Blow it out your a*# because we're going to win, we're going to win big, and you know we're going to win big. Try me.
Then you kid of get into a chicken/egg argument...can we win first and tradition becomes enhanced? Or do we really need new/spruced up tradition to help win.

Peruna is not going anywhere...
unfortunately neither are the geldings...
I don't buy the player BS about not liking Peruna, if it really bothers them that much, they need to devote more time to the classroom...
Peruna was here long before JJ and will be here long after...the minute Peruna is not the focal point, I will be canceling my donation and raiding RGT and AD office with e-mails

New Kid-did you hear this yourself-you put it in quotes-is that a reliable quote that your personally heard-because we don't want to be repeating hearsay The University is bigger than the Head Football Coach. If this University only learned one thing from the DP that should be the lesson

Looks like it's time for the mustang band to dust off that arrangement of the Midnight Cowboy theme.

Personal heard him say it the first time and many other times after that. Coach Jones and the staff have a saying: "What you say and what you do have to be the same thing if we're going to be successful" He said he was going to do it and he's taking the steps to change what was a 'losing culture' it's no secret anymore.

Let's be realistic here. "Changing the losing culture" is running off players with a bad attitude. Accomplished by Jones at both Hawaii and SMU. Changing mascots/logos etc. are for marketing and attendance. It has nothing to do with winning, except maybe that it is hard to recruit players to wear a rainbow on their helmet in Hawaii. How have those changes been for Hawaii since Jones left? Their team is sinking fast along with attendance. He feels it would be easier to change the image of SMU aka marketing with larger horses that are easy to identify as being "impressive" than Peruna, that isn't impressive if you don't know anything about him. Great. I like a coach that tries to improve things. BUT, it is the job of the admin to draw the line where appropriate. Peruna is clearly loved by the vast majority of alumni and students as evidenced by the student senate. Some might not like black unforms, but they aren't that big a deal. I think black is gimmicky, but I don't really care that much. Peruna is different. If June showed up in College Station and said they needed to replace their stupid little mutt with a pit bull to have a stronger manly image, he might litterally get lynched by crazy aggies.

I wonder how much June really cares or thinks about Peruna. I mean seriously.
