I've never known ordering fried chicken from Bubba's to be inappropriate - or incredibly inappropriate. Methodists are partial to fried chicken. It's FRIED CHICKEN.
OK, I am a Methodist. I really don't like chicken. If you think this is what Methodists think, I hope you are wrong. I, my Parents, Brothers and Sisters think, you are wrong. I hope so. If you went to SMU, just sorry. I went to SFSU. You got the best degree. I got the best lesson, perhaps not $ wise, I guess. I doubt most SMU Grads think this way, I hope they don't.

There is nothing even remotely racial about fried chicken. That falls in the category of looking for something to be offended about.

Nothing offensive about fried chicken. Ordering it as a celebration of black history is offensive. If you don't get that, I really give up.

Dubs, I guess he the Fuzzy Zoeller type. Next thing you know gostangs and Bergermeister will be saying it is nothing remotely racially offensive about the black students that have been called the N word on the SMU campus.

Having lived in the valley, doing business there and having friends and family there, I've seen several instances where there is "dream school" (ivy league for example), and then aggy/texas/texas a&m, and then the safety school of what is now UTRGV. My niece, who happens to be latina, just graduated from what is considered one of the best high schools in Texas. While she got mail from smu, the schools that caught her eye that she visited, applied and got accepted to, were Georgetown, Notre Dame etc. She got $ offers from all, but ultimately wanted to stay in Texas and wound up 'settling' at incarnate word. She wanted to go to a private school..in Texas..
Im not sure if it's by design or an oversight or what have you, but smu doesn't seem to put itself out there - at least in that area- as some other schools.
I suspect she leaned towards Catholic affiliated universitiea. Did she atend a Catholic high school? It seems like SMU would draw well in thr South with African Americans and even in the Southwest with Latinos. Probably the limited rich ones of both who have plenty of options. My Latina niece is in the top 5% of her class. An A&M rep visited and acted surprised she was in the top 10% and said, "Whoa! You're in." It takes more rhan that. TCU visited and she and her friends laughed because of the sticker shock. I remember visiting TCU in the early 90s to check out its MBA program and was astounded that the only AA students seemed to be a small group of athletes in the student center.

No she attended the science Academy of South Texas or something to that effect. sort of a public magnet school.
Im sure you know, but interestingly UH like a&m has storefront retail space in the valley which serves as a sort of 'recruiting station'

Well, this site or my email was just hacked. I have no idea why? I told SMOO power, so they know. If you get a thread that is, ( [email protected]), claiming to be ponyfans.com/org. they must be wrong.

I only know this because I went to the ponyfans site rather than Tapatalk to see an interview that would not play on Tapatalk. Now I get notified anytime someone posts on the thread. I cannot figure out how to make it stop. Haha.
Luckily the thread has died down.

Well, this thread was about being Black at SMU. So linked the Methodist part. One of many from the movie. Because Methodists like chicken, right. I would not put that scene on the board. I know anyone can go on this board. I got this email, maybe I am just paranoid, but it was odd. They wanted info. from me, that I did not want to give. I have gotten emails from the Mod.s before, because I went too far. This was not one of those. So, I tried to let other posters know. Not to cause any harm, but just to let you know. This has never happened to me before from this site. It's never happened to me before from any site.
