If Burger House is full, trod on over to Cisco Grill in Snider for a pleasant surprise. Get the chips & guac while you're waiting for your cheeseburger. Great iced tea if you're in to caffeine!

Cisco Grill is a good restaurant, but do they serve burgers? If so, I look forward to seeing them in your rankings.

As a prelude to the game tonight, Whatachick and I made our long-overdue sojourn to Snookie's to sample the burger that had drawn such rave reviews from the rest of the Burger Crew. And it deserved the accolades heaped upon it - a damn tasty offering. The burger itself was extremely flavorful, albeit a bit crumbly -- perhaps that was a hint of well-seasoned gristle in the patty. And the bun, well, it sucked. That made the fact that the overall experience was so good even more impressive. When the meat is tasty enough to overcome apparent shortcomings in quality and consistency, as well as a bun that that has all the taste of a kitchen sponge but then crumbles in your hand, that speaks volumes about the burger itself. The overall burger experience at Snookie's is almost dead-even with those at Fuddrucker's and Earl's - placing it in lofty company, to be sure.

There's a guy in my office who's looked at this list, and he keeps telling me that you HAVE to try Keller's on NW Hwy, east of Abrams. He says it's a drive-thru, but they will bring beer to your car, and that their burger is the best in town.

Any of our infamous Burger Guys ever go to Keller's? What's the report on that place?

You'll think you've gone back in time at Keller's.

Keller's is basically the same as Jake's as they are owned and operated by the same people....the only difference is Keller's is a drive-in. If you own a convertible go to Keller's otherwise go to Jakes. Drive-ins are cool in a convertible.

Just so everyone knows, I am now a proud member of the 1 pound hamburger club at Fuddrucker's. Check out my pic on the wall.

Congratulations. The only way I could do that would be to shove half of it in my pants pocket.

Ball's trumps all hamburgers. Unless of course, God forbid, you're in Tulsa. In that case, the reigning king of burgers is Brownie's.

Ball's?!?!?!?!?

BillBored, you need to get our more often. Or more precisely, you need to cover more ground while you're out.

Ball's has been tested, but it didn't even crack the top 20.

Consider BillBored's benchmark for good eating: Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After a brief hiatus, the Burger Crew recently made the long-overdue excursion to Rose's (in the back alley on the northwest corner of Greenville and Yale). I admit to having had some hesitation about the place, since it looks like it should have been condemned during the Eisenhower administration, if not during the Calvin Coolidge presidency. The place resembles a bomb shelter that's been put to the test many times. If you exhale in this place, the walls might crumble. And a good belch might crack the foundation of the place and shatter windows, if it had any. (Side note: if you're tall, wear a hard hat - had Peruna Punch -- all 6'4" of him -- been there, he would have scraped his head on the ceiling.)

With all that said, the place is somewhat legendary, yet I'd never been there in the 15 years I've been in Dallas. Now it's clear why. The burger at Rose's is sensational. This was perhaps the purest sense of seeking the best burger in Dallas, since you surely won't be dazzled by fancy lights, flirty waitstaff, or a plethora of gourmet options. Your options are a hamburger, a cheeseburger, a double hamburger or a double cheeseburger. That's it. There are no fries and no onion rings. Your variations on the burgers also are limited. You get your own drinks and chips, and you probably want to wash your hands before you make the trip, since the restrooms are in something that perhaps was intended to be an outhouse but looks so forlorn that it makes the restaurant itself look like something created by the Four Seasons. I didn't go into the restrooms and they still scared me.

The is as pure in flavor as any on our list. PX pointed out that when you're not picky about how much grease is on a burger, juicy burgers are easy to come by. But rest assured, this is no dogfood-on-a-bun offering. The beef is flavorful. It's also, as mentioned, extremely juicy. And it's completely and utterly satisfying.

The side orders leave something to be desired (although PX entered a state of nirvana when he discovered the array of nearly-extinct varieties of bottled sodas), but the burger itself merits an immediate visit from all PonyFans and from any fans in town to watch their teams play the Ponies (if the out-of-towners can find it, of course.)

The complete and official standings:

1. Uptown Bar & Grill
2. First & 10
3. Rose's
4. Snookie's
5. Fuddrucker's
6. Earl's
7. Jake's
8. Joe Willy's
9. Chips
10. Tipperary Inn
11. Two Rows
12. Campisi's
13. Cheesecake Factory
14. Snuffers

I am nowhere near as eloquent as Whatasteve, but don't let his discriptions deter you from seeking out Rose's. The place HAS been there forever, but it's STILL THERE because the burgers are really GOOD. The back door (which is the only way into the place) faces Milo's across the alley where the alley forms a tee and you have to enter through a chain link fence gate on the north side of the building.

The menu is limited to hamburgers and cheeseburgers although you can double up on meat patties and cheese. The rest of the offerings are various kinds of chips and soft drinks. This is strictly a lunch place as the hours are 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday.

You place your order with Rose (who has to be as old as the building if not older) then go pick out your drink and chips. They will call you when your order is ready and you pay on your way out after you're finished.

I'm going to rate this burger pretty high as it fits my desire for good old fashion burgers.

1. Snookies
2. Up Town Bar & Grill
3. Rose's
4. Campisi's
5. Tipperary Inn
6. Joe Willy's
7. Earl's
8. 1st & 10
9. Two Rows
10. Snuffer's
11. Cheese Factory
12. Fuddrucker's
13. Chip's
14. Jake's

Lest anyone's feelings get hurt here, I want to state that all of these places have good to great burgers. I'm not sure I would want to go back to all of them for various reasons, such as dining atmosphere or crummy location, etc.

Man, that's harsh.

And no, not all of them have good burgers. Snuffers kicks butt in the cheese fries department, but their burgers have always been weak.</B></font><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

The weaknesses of the Snuffer Burger were properly documented earlier in the Burger war, you can go back to the earlier posts and read them.
I dont know how old that woman is, its impossible to accurately calculate. But I do know there is a Confederate 20 dollar bill hanging on the wall, that is supposed to be the first dollar Roses ever made. I would be willing to bet she was there to give that customer change.
A more complete review of Roses from me later, when I have time.
