Jimmy Tubbs cheated on his watch. He had to go.

Don't kill the new AD! I am sure we all agree that we needed a change in direction, and he gets to see the organization in a way we do not (from the inside). Let him run and let's judge him by the results.

I made my preference known for Secules to take over at the time. I probably did about 10 posts about it. He has been an assistant AD for several years, and is certainly qualified. The big stain on the Copeland era was hiring Jimmy Tubbs, and I never heard that Secules was involved in that decision.
Needless to say, with Orsini's new direction, I would guess Phil is feeling the heat.
Willis to slot receiver!

I am sorry, but Scott was far from qualified. Nice guy, sorry he didn't have the opportunity to re-train under a pro, but the guy was no where near where he should be in terms of qualifications, experience or enthusiam or work effort to be the AD.
Still had to be done. I am sure these were all really nice people but results are what matter. I still have not seen a big push yet to market these Mustangs. You would think with the crappy Arkansas State team rolling into town in 2 weeks we would see an all out push to get people to the game. All I know is that I expect to see Steve-O to get his people in and get this team some exposure and do everything possible to bring back the disinterested Mustang Fan. If not, then 2 years from now we will be asking that he hit the road.
Perhaps the reason you arent seeing a big push to market the game is that we dont have a marketing department, anymore. Usually by this time of year they are offering special ticket packages, discounts for weaker games, family discounts, etc. I havent seen anything like that. The only thing I've seen is Scout Night, and thats a carryover from the past years.
I agree that the new AD will want to bring in some of his own people, but he needs to get them in pretty quick. Firing people is one thing, but the jobs still need to get done.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

How can a person say they get people jobs when the student athletes get the jobs themselves? Has anyone ever walked by the awsome "PALS" wall?? Ed got Keylon Kincade a job with the cowboys or at least he claimed it. I heard the student athletes were very happy to see him go... Seeing as he didn't know how to type besides peck and hunt. From what I heard at the welcome back dinner he was the only athletic director's aid that was boooed by the student athletes. Its too bad secules is gone though he was an upstanding man and many people respected him. Good luck Secules a man like you will have no problem getting a great job. As for Ed maybe he should use the Pals program to get himself a great job at ACE Parking!

I'm sure he also got Alvin Nnabuife "hired" by the Raiders and got Sterling Harris "hired" by the Browns (last year) and .... let's not forget the Hertz rent-a-car careers. I don't care about his typing skills, or lack thereof, but maybe his difficulty in that area came from patting himself on the back too often. As for Secules, my biggest complaint is that his dismissal came when other schools already have their staffs in place. Best of luck, Scott.

The house needed to be cleaned...Too much apathy and no new ideas...As an administrator, I don't care how much you care for the university, I care what you have done to show for it...All I know is SMU Athletics hasn't shown anything in the revenue sports for 20 years...Gimmie a great leader, marketer, motivator, fund raiser, and a track record...I think we can all agree Orsini deserves that distinction...Take us to the next level Orsini!!!

Probably the best post in this thread.

I hate signatures, but love irony.
