Freshman=1 lasso, sophomore =2, etc. Didn't really bother me, but it just came out of nowhere and since it was only explained at Corral, everyone else was like "what the heck is this?"

I learned that at AARO in 96.

Wow ok, like I mentioned in my earlier post, I learned jack-squat at AARO. I always thought it came around after I was a freshman (2000) since I didn't learn it. But clearly it was around in 96.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I think it's an old tradition, but it probably just depends on who your leader is and how much of an eff they give.

I have never met a pre death penalty alumni who remembers it - must be Pye era. Should if be purged as heresy?

But even the old timers do the lasso I've noticed. Maybe they just want to look young and hip?

I am sure it has spread to everywhere now. Just saying asking some olds whether they did that in their era I have been told 'no'.

Wow. I didn't know it had a name.

I've never done it but figured it was one of those things they make up every now and then. I guess I was right! :)

Of course, on the bright side, at least that means the student is at least somewhat paying attention to Varsity.

I hate the lasso. Get off my lawn.

If you do it for the number of years you were in school, Ramon Flannigan would have worn his arm out before the game. Didn't I tell you to get off my lawn.

Saw this from 1964 posted elsewhere online. Rare SMU-themed words to Peruna.
