Get ready for a "Gender Identity Studies" major at SMU or some BS like that.

And kids wonder why they can't get hired for a decent job when they graduate these days...

Well said, East Coast!!!

Furthermore, once this college bubble 'finally' burst, you'll see most if not all these BS courses fall by the way side. You're right - most these kids who know so much about nothing are unemployed or under-employed & will be for years to come.

Furthermore, colleges, for the most part, are money-making machines & more times than not the kids are the ones getting screwed!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Right now on wfaa they are discussing that students at unt are trying to get gender neutral housing. Because according to the women studies major you shouldn't have to room with a sex you don't identify with. Well what about me, I don't want to room with someone that might or might not be questioning their own gender. Are you born with it..then that's what you are. Or is this not politically correct"?

[deleted] PC bull [deleted]. Just contributes to our growing nanny state. So sick of everyone worrying about offending someone. What ever happened to "stick and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me" stuff they teach you in kindergarden? That too complicated for adults?

Oh wait, I forgot, the whole point is to control other people, becuase the PC crowd is just a bunch if unhappy whiners that can't stand it if you don't conform to their mold and ideals.

How about we all just be a little less judgmental. That holds for the PCers and non-PCers. Good grief folks.

I just realized, from reading the majority of the comments in this string, that all the hopes and optimism expressed on Ponyfans about SMU climbing in the national ratings perception race are pipe dreams, and I ain't gonna see it happen in my lifetime. Call me all the names you want, this is an issue that will hurt this school nationally. I tried to take solace in the fact that a majority of students voted in favor of a LGBT seat, but the fact that it was only a slim majority when 2/3rds was required, by a generation that is according to most polls OVERWHELMINGLY comfortable with LGBT issues... well, you codgers on here just keep hoping that Mustang football will be revived and bring us glory; let's hope the recent success of the basketball team can put some shine on this beautiful college; because SMU will NEED some ways other than academic prestige to raise it's profile. Mark my words.

I remember when SMU had the first black football player in the Southwest Conference (at a time when most schools were still "colored" or "white"). SMU was also a trailblazer inviting Martin Luther King to campus in the early days of the Civil Rights struggle.

Then when I attended SMU there were very few minorities and most blacks were assumed to be on the football or basketball teams. I know as I had black friends who weren't. I had a hispanic friend who was mistaken for a member of the campus landcaping crew. I attended a very diverse high school in Dallas. I was disparaged for that in general and with comments such as "did you have busing at your school?" when viewing my class group picture. I don't really know of any gay people who were "out". Living in fear was what the gay people did.

You would think that our school would have changed and gone back to its earlier live and let live stance, but apparently not from the comments on this forum.

I'm very sad for our school, which I have supported through the Death Penalty and many other ordeals. It certainly takes the shine off my pride as I sing, "Varsity" when I know there are ignorant people filled with hate for me and other Mustangs standing nearby.

It is not necessarily hatred that drives many who believe that choosing a homosexual lifestyle isn't ultimately in the best interest of the individual. It's actually love and concern. So tired of the hate and fear argument.

Let's take up your "lifestyle" -- oh that's right, it's none of my business what you do in bed - or do you care to elucidate us?

I have heard Senator Harry Reid say...."What I love to hear is arguments, from children of the public school systems (starting from around the 1990's and on).........diversity is SO IMPORTANT...we MUST include everybody as equals no matter what....this, taught from the NEA and other "educational" groups which have led the way to DUMB DOWN SOCIETY. Knowing that these teacher's unions have bent the grade curve downward, diversity is THE thing, not academic accomplishments....... I discount what comes out of your indoctrinated child like minds as progressive drivel from an inexperienced punks. But then again.....we should not hold your callous and inexperience youthfulness against you.........we embrace your stupidity, as we include you and your LGBT groups". The previous message has been brought to you by MoveOn.org. :D
