Fellow Stangs - I'm up at 113 and Broadway til August and don't really know anyone in town - if anyone ever wants to go grab a drink and talk SMU - let me know.

Classic. You just don't get that kind of quality on PBS anymore.

Got this in an email yesterday. I commend the SMUNYC alumni association for putting this together, I am flabbergasted. I will try to make it by the end of the 4th quarter, as I have a music gig downtown. It's a shame, too, because this bar is less than a block from where I live. Raplh has no excuse, however...

What: Tulane vs. SMU Football Viewing Party

Info: Join alumni from Tulane and SMU to watch the first college football game in the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina. We will be watching the nationally televised game at Aces & Eights Saloon on 1st Ave btwn 87th and 88th St. Drink and specials include 2 for 1 on all drinks until 9, $10 all you can drink domestic beer or $20 domestic beer and well drinks from 9-midnight, and free snacks during the game. Other food items are available for order. Aces and Eights has a number of projection screen and plasma tvs for your viewing pleasure. If you cannot make it out to the party, the game will be televised on College Sports TV (CSTV).

Where: Aces & Eights Saloon, 1st Ave btwn 87th and 88th (http://www.acesandeightsnyc.com/)

When: Saturday, Sept 30th, @ 7:00 p.m.

Cost: No cover. Cash bar.

RSVP: Not required, but appreciated. Send an email to [email protected] with “Football game RSVP” in the subject line.

Agreed on the Halloween game, although I'm pretty sure that whole thing was spearheaded by the Tulane alumni and they somehow (smartly) got a hold of the SMU alumni assc. I had a friend on the list who was forwarding the alumni emails to me until I showed up at an SMU alumni event in Union Square a few yrs ago and cleared the room by talking about SMU sports. Seriously, it was unbelievable. Anyway, I did sign their email list, and that's how I remain on the list. YOu could probably get on it by emailing [email protected]. I think that's where the email came from.

Thanks, I'll try that. I have had similar experienced at those things. Don't really make an effort anymore because the apathy of everyone that shows up (very few, typically) is frustrating.

Understandable...have one as well, but Time Warner doesn't offer EPSN2 HD so it doesn't really matter anyway.
