CLEVELAND (NACDA) - SMU is the top-ranked Conference USA school and rates 44th nationally in the updated U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup Division I standings, NACDA announced today. While final rankings will not be available until the end of June, SMU has ranked as the top school in its conference for six straight years in the Director's Cup standings.

At No. 44 nationally, SMU rates ahead of the two other C-USA schools in the top 100 - UTEP (73) and Tulsa (98 ) - and ahead of Metroplex rival TCU (55).

This is the first set of spring standings and includes the sports of women's and men's lacrosse and tennis; women's golf, rowing and water polo; and men's volleyball.

The U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The United States Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Ala., is the program sponsor. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's.
