http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Hill
In his spare time, Hank enjoys standing in the alley behind his house drinking Alamo beer with lifelong friends Dale Gribble, Bill Dauterive, and Boomhauer. Hank is also a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan, though in one episode he does wear a Houston Texans hat (he tried to see the inaugural Cowboys-Texans game). When he watches baseball, he favors the Texas Rangers over the Houston Astros. In basketball, he prefers the Dallas Mavericks over the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, and in college sports he prefers Southern Methodist University (SMU) over all of the universities in Texas. It has been revealed that he hates the city of Houston.
Anyone ever see the episode where they talk about this? I really like King of the Hill, so I'm glad he's on our side. I bet Boomhauer likes UT.
Just my two cents.

Arlen is Garland...
Mike Judge spent a couple of what he terms "regrettable" (or something along those lines) years in Garland.

No way. I've been to Garland, and even in cartoon form, Arlen is idyllic compared to that town.
Just my two cents.

I think the show is based off of 80s Garland, not the modern El Garlandito.

Wow. That's a new piece of trivia for me. When the show premiered, I was living in Houston. The Houston Chronicle did an article on the show and said that Arlen was based on Humble, TX mostly because of all the propane business references. Humble and Garland are equal.

Makes you wonder what "Beavis and Butthead" were modeled after.

That's easy.. see below..

What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Thanks buddy.
We can't even talk about freaking King of the Hill without someone doing something to get the thread deleted...
Just my two cents.

Unfit for Command is a good book too. Hank read it because his father gave him a copy. Hank reads a lot while at the propane office.
