Not SMU football, but Dallas football. Just thought it was important enough to put on the board.

According to a Dallas Police report obtained by news 8, Dallas Cowboys star receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide Tuesday night. The report also says that Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills. A woman companion observed him putting two pills in his mouth. The woman says the prescription of 40 pills was filled on September 18th and until yesterday he'd taken only five pills. According to the police report, Owens was asked if he'd taken the rest of the prescription. Owens said yes. According to the report, police also asked if he was trying to harm himself. Owens answered yes. Terrell Owens was treated at Baylor University Medical Center.

Did you hear Dale Hansen's comments? What a jerk! I'm not a fan of TO, but Dale Hansen made a lot of out of line comments.

An example of what happens with the pressure to put news out there before a chance to digest, investigate, and hear all sides of the story. While I'm not sure what really happened, TO has denied that he attempeted to commit suicide.

Was it irresponsible for Channel 8 to go with this story when it did?

Here in DC we had most of the John Riggins show and John Thompson show dedicated to TO's "suicide or not". Each had the same response, TO needs help, professional help. The pattern is there and the cries have gotten louder and louder. If anyone believes that this was accidental, that same person probably believed Bill Clinton never inhaled. His agent on the scene clearly thought at that moment it was a suicide attempt. Thompson (who of course had to deal with Allen Iverson) said, that football is irrelevent right now and that the NFL, NFLPA, Cowboys and TO's doctors should do everything possible to make sure he gets the help he needs. Riggins said, these cries are escalating, what's next? Shooting up the locker room? And as one who has been on pain meds (and a few benders), Riggins said, you don't get that loopy and TO needs help.
