Headline Obit in today's DMN. "Graduated from Sunset High School in January 1937 and attended SMU for four years on a baseball scholarship. He was the Mustangs' shortsop but pitched SMU to a 7-5 win over Rice in April 1941. As a junior, he turned down a $5,000 signing bonus with the Boston Red Sox."
He died of natural causes at the age of 87 and was a bomber pilot in WWII. He was shot down over France on Black Thursday 10-14-43. It was called Black Thursday because of the heavy loss of men and aircraft during a raid on factories in Schweinfurt, Germany. He was taken prisoner after living with the French underground for 6 months.
This gentleman was a Pony and a Hero! My sincerest condolences to his family.
