US News and World Report Rankings out...SMU comes in at #67.
Anyone know how we did last year? I know Turner was one of many university presidents protesting the way these rankings are compiled. Hopefully we'll see a more equitable system in the future...
I was just about to post this.
Looks like the top 50 didn't do much shifting. Surprised to see aTm that high. At least SMU is leaps and bounds higher than TCU. ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
One of the factors is percentage of alumni donating to the university, and SMU has one of the lowest rates around. Pretty sad.
I always hear "I paid SMU enough to attend, why should I donate," but for some reason, graduates of Yale, Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford, who paid more than SMU students, are among the highest percentages of alumni donors.
I give but it's to athletics & Cox only.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
That still counts. The reason for the seemingly-uncreative senior class gift this past spring (give $20.07 to the SMU entity of your choice) was to encourage a cultur of giving back to the school and raise that category ranking.
Basically for 20 bucks you raise the value of your degree.
top 40 is a realistic goal
